A Little Extra Room for Everyone

A Little Extra Room for Everyone

There's something about the festive season that makes every Indian home feel a little fuller.

The dining table suddenly has twelve people around it instead of six. The living room becomes an extension of the dining room. Someone pulls out an extra chair from the bedroom, the pouffes get rearranged, and the floor cushions finally get their moment.

And somehow, there's always room for one more.

We've always found it interesting how furniture takes on a completely different role when people come together. The coffee table becomes a snack counter, the console holds an assortment of mithai boxes, and the dining table sees everything from elaborate meals to late-night card games.

It's also when we realise that some of the best spaces aren't necessarily the most perfectly arranged ones. They're the ones that can accommodate a little chaos.

At onebytwo, we love designing furniture that can adapt to these moments. Benches that make space for an extra person, stools that move around easily, generous tables that encourage everyone to stay a little longer, and comfortable seating that doesn't make you want to leave after twenty minutes.

Because while we spend a lot of time thinking about proportions, materials, and finishes, we also think about what happens once the furniture becomes part of someone's home.

The conversations, the celebrations, the occasional spilled drink, and the inevitable debate over who gets the most comfortable chair.

So this festive season, here's to homes that are a little louder, tables that are a little more crowded, and furniture that makes room for all of it.

After all, the best gatherings rarely follow a seating plan.
