At onebytwo, our godown isn’t just where things get built — it’s where they come to life (and sometimes fall apart before they do). It’s part workshop, part office, part reminder board, part chai stop. In short, it’s where the magic and the madness happen.
We recently upgraded our toolkit — bringing in a band saw and a thickness planner. Big words, big joy. These machines may not look glamorous, but they’ve become our latest team members. Reliable, efficient, and not (yet) demanding chai every hour.
Another unsung hero of our day? The farmo — a humble MDF or paper mock-up that becomes the guiding light for our carpenters. It’s our way of saying “this is what we mean” without a thousand explanations. Every curve, every joinery, every edge gets tested here first — almost like a dress rehearsal before the final show.
Walk around the space and you’ll spot checklists taped to walls — some serious (steps for production, polish, and packaging), some slightly less so (a reminder to please throw your chai cups in the bin). They help us make sure every piece is up to standard, and that we don’t lose our minds trying to remember if that table leg was supposed to be 16" or 18".
Our godown is loud, a little dusty, often running behind schedule — but it’s where our ideas take form. Where SOPs meet improvisation. Where screws, swatches, and sanity are all being balanced in real time.
It’s not a showroom, it’s not polished, but it’s ours. And if you ever walk in during work hours, chances are you’ll find us with a measuring tape in one hand and a chai in the other — trying to make sure the wheels are turning (literally and otherwise).
