The Joy of the Jhoola

The Joy of the Jhoola

There’s just something about a swing, isn’t there?

Maybe it’s the gentle sway after a long day. Or how it makes even the most grown-up space feel a little more playful. Or maybe it’s because in Indian homes, a swing isn’t just a piece of furniture - it’s a feeling. A spot where stories are shared, chai is sipped, and time slows down just a little.

At onebytwo, we love designing swings. Give us a balcony, a living room beam, or even a quiet garden corner - and our minds immediately go: “Jhoola banega!”

We’ve worked with wood and metal, carved backrests and sleek rods, hanging styles and standing frames. But no matter the material or form, each swing we design has one rule - it should invite you to pause, sit, sway, and stay.

So far, we’ve crafted some favourites that have made their way into lovely homes:

  • A hanging swing with a solid wood base, sleek wooden back rods, and a comfy padded back cushion - the kind that fits just right against your spine for those endless evening musings.
  • A standing swing with a minimal metal frame, a teakwood base, and a centre cushion - perfect for spaces where ceilings don’t allow for hooks, but the vibe still demands a jhoola.

Both of these are built to blend in beautifully - with soft finishes, thoughtful details, and our signature material mix that makes it onebytwo.

And this is just the beginning.

We’ve got more swing stories to share - some with bold backs, some curved, some minimal - all designed to make a space feel a little more yours.

Coming up next on the blog: our full swing series.
Because if there’s one thing we believe, it’s this: every home deserves a jhoola.
